Adding a link to increase subscription purchases
Users on Indeed wanted an indication of which users had a Resume Search subscription on the user management page. I designed a solution and decided to add a link for users to “Learn more” about subscriptions when the company did not have any users with a subscription yet. This resulted in a statistically significant increase in subscription purchases: 1000s of them in just the first quarter.
Solving a mystery to reduce help contacts
Indeed customer service reps indicated a feature had major issues, while UX research showed the opposite. Through in-depth conversations with users and reps, I discovered only users who the feature was not intended for were struggling and reps were setting users up with this feature unnecessarily to circumvent shortcomings in internal tools. I designed and shipped several UX and service design solutions for reps and end users, reducing case volume by over 50%.

Fixing a redirect to increase revenue
I identified a redirect for companies with jobs synced from their career site, but no jobs posted directly on Indeed, that prevented them from being able to post a job directly on Indeed. I designed (and got prioritized) a dedicated page to replace the redirect that increased live jobs with spend by nearly 3%. In less than 3 months, this change generated 5 figures of previously impossible new spend on posted jobs without hurting existing spend on campaigns.

Leadership
UI Desgin
I led a team of 3 designers through a quarter-long process to craft a multi-year vision for a group of 4 product teams.
The vision work energized and evangelized our 30-person cross-functional product group, excited leaders, and resulted in 2 of 4 aspects being directly prioritized in 2026.
Leadership
Management
Over a year, I led a cross-disciplinary UX team of 12 from Jobseeker and Employer teams through analyzing, distilling, & launching over 6 complex identity projects. I arranged a team kickoff, established regular touchpoints, and ensured we were staffed effectively. I also proactively identified opportunities for my team members and regularly provided guidance on all projects to improve processes and outcomes.
We reduced logins dependent on passwords, increased sign-in success rate, and increased employer user growth.
Design process
I started as the UX designer on this project, completing a competitive analysis, leading a workshop, and creating an interactive walk-through. I worked with a UX content designer and a Sr UX researcher on iterative prototyping through UX research and, after moving into management, I guided a designer on my team through high-priority enhancements.
90% of users indicated they found the feature "extremely valuable".
Collaboration
Platform design
I was the sole designer for this project. I conducted research, partnered with my PM to influence other teams to prioritize integration with our platform, and balanced business needs with user needs to account for experiences across products while designing this platform.
The new platform improved navigation and organizational visibility for users and case studies indicated potential revenue increases of up to 356%.
UI design
Mobile
I led research, information architecture, and workflow design efforts for this project. I also worked with 2 designers and 2 UI developers to establish a pattern library, plus design and build a new mobile site from scratch.
Launch of the new UI and mobile site increased overall conversions, mobile conversions, and network revenue.
Don't just take my word for it
Katelyn is THE BEST designer I have worked with bar none. [...] She always leads with a user centric and strategic approach. [...] she provides insightful knowledge and recommendation on user behaviors, customer segments, user problems, product visions, rollout approaches etc [...] Her work style is very transparent and collaborative. She loves to help others succeed.
Hannah Han-Ciaravella
Product Director
I’ve never worked with a more capable designer than Katelyn. [...] Katelyn has the rare combination of skills to design beautiful, easy, and useful experiences, advocate for users, understand complex back-end architecture, and to do all that within the realities of business constraints. Katelyn simplifies the complex [...] She embraces quantitative and qualitative feedback and is not defensive when a design doesn’t work.
Kathleen Denyer Hall
Senior UX Researcher
Katelyn has a great eye for the big picture, branding, consistency, maintainability and realistic iterative steps for larger projects. She even finds ways to polish up entrenched, less savory designs in ways that don't drive us UI Engineers crazy. She also recommends changes early in the functional design process to prevent UX issues down the line.
